There are two main kinds of arthritis.
Osteoarthritis (‘Wear and tear’) and inflammatory arthopathies (Anklyosis sponylitis, Rheumatoid arthritis etc).
Osteoarthritis is by far the most common and is caused by damage or wear to the cartilage of the joints in the spine, hips, knees etc.
This damage can result in swelling within the joint, pain, stiffness and changes in response to the damage to the cartilage as bony spurs can form and bone can expand or roughen resulting in lost movement.
Following diagnosis, an effective treatment plan will be developed by your chiropractor in order to help improve joint mobility and reduce pain. In some cases patients may be referred to a Rheumatologist in order to rule out the inflammatory kind of arthritis.
The treatment plan at Precision Chiropractic has been really thorough with lots of exercises to do at home. Highly recommended for unmanageable pain. Thank you, Judith
